Chisame Hasegawa by will-Ruzicka Chisame Hasegawa by will-Ruzicka
This was originally supposed to be a commission for this kid NAME REDACTED, but I apparently did not arrange to get paid, and now this is apparently "not what he wanted at all". And to be honest, I don't care to give him what he wants now. I like this character, I like this piece as is, so it's my own fan art, and he can go somewhere else for what he wants.

Done completely in photoshop. Tied a different technique to color her based off of tutorial from Kinu Nishimura where you use Color Balance adjustment layers to add the color.

Character copyrighted to Ken Akamatsu

EDIT: Took out the guys name because that was kind of douche-y of me.

Nice job. Where did you find the Kinu Nishimura tutorial?

It was in an old issue of Newtype I had. Forget if it was the english or japanese release of Newtype.

It may be just me, but her eyes seem to say "the real world can get lost for all I care". Funny, considering a certain revelation she has (and denies) late into the series.

Looks awesome, dude.

I loved how much bigger her role became later in the series. I was almost certain she would fade into the background after awhile.

Her prominence deeper in certainly surprised me. It's actually refreshing to see former background characters enjoy the limelight once in a while, dontcha think?

He did an amazing job juggling such a large cast, in my opinion. I'm kind of sad to hear it's wrapping up soon. Hope he doesn't take too long before coming up with something new.

Sry to hear that. It seems like a guy would have some taste. It's definitely inventive and well, it probably out does his expectations. Love your negima work.

The character herself looks really awesome! Good job! At the background with the under the ocean texture looks really cool! I love the concept of this and i loved reading the fight scenes in this place. Great job! :)

I think I got it out of a Newtype magazine. I remember not fully understanding it the first time I read it. I'll show you the PSD file sometime... I'm not convinced this is a better way to work, though.

yea, you should have shown him the sketch first, but i guess we all learn this lesson the hard way haha. every time i send out a sketch i psychologically prepare myself to redraw the entire piece (usually don't have to though). i find segmenting the artwork to be one of the challenging parts of production... you want it to look good enough to convey your vision, but you can't spend too much time in case it is going in wrong direction.

anyways, i think the piece looks really cool! too bad the experience got you down /=

true that... but honestly, with my schedule at work, and the things I need to do to become the artist I want to be, commissions just don't figure in. Financially or creatively.

For some people, who can ask for high prices, it makes sense. But I'm not in demand like that, and to work up to being in demand like that I could better spend that time becoming a better storyboard artist.

Thanks, though. Glad you like it.

I like it. She looks cool. :D What series is it? And forget about the ass. His loss. Although, is there a way to report him so other artist are warned not to take commissions from him? (Hmmm, just a thought, probably not possible...)

No... I wouldn't do that to him. I should probably post this somewhere, but a lot of the blame is on me... now that it's not 1 AM and I'm thinking straight. And after we spit at each other he offered to pay me anyway and I declined since I really should have had him approve the sketch before finishing it.

You're a very nice and reasonable person. :) A lot of people out there would be very vindictive towards that person. It's good that you're not.

This is a lovely piece, I really like the lighting, and how soft the colors are :D great work man!

Thanks. As I've been replying this morning, now that I've slept on it, I realize most of the blame is on me for this situation, and the guy eventually offered to pay anyway, but I turned him down since I should have gotten his approval on the sketch.

But now the piece is mine, and I already want to add some other elements to it. She has these mice characters in the comic and I think I want to work them in somehow.

Thanks, mang. I tried to deal with the BG kind of like Kizer's soft ethereal looking stuff... without really knowing how he achieves his look of course.
