OKAY!!! Only a few people like myself can appreciate what you've drawn here. Although, you've officially dated yourself, I can honestly say WOW this is a great drawing of a character from a great tv show I watched growing up.
Yeah just before the franchise shut down they changed the format to where Venom and Mask raced for stuff instead. One neat side note is they tried to pair Vanessa with Brad Turner during these episodes
what do you think, should I have done this as a cheesy car magazine spread? You know, the one with the half naked chick arching her back while laying on top of the car? That's what I was originally sketching for this.
M.A.S.K. was genius. The guys at Kenner must have been all like... "What's popular? Transforming robots and military Joes fighting terrorists? Let's combine the two!" But sadly, it wasn't the hit it should have been.
Everyone I knew as a kid owned the green motorcycle guy. Because it was inexpensive. But it was also boring that we all had him and no one else.
Vanessa was of course my favorite character from the show. I guess I had a thing for bad girls.
Again, you drew her very nicely. And much better looking that I remember her. Can't wait to see what you're gonna surprise me with next.
I always wanted the Jeep that shot a boat out... for some reason I thought that was cool. And of course the Jet Cars. I actually forgot about this character until I decided to draw that last MASK piece.
As for the surprises... Right now it'll be a surprise to me to. Not sure what I'm going to do.... Robotech, maybe?
Lots of practice... That's all I can suggest. I look at people better than me, and then I just sketch away. I wok digitally, so if the sketch isn't quite right, I can lower the opacity on the sketch, Flip it horizontally and sketch on top of it until it's got the energy and flow I'm looking for. The Baroness piece I did that like 4 or 5 times... but this one, I was kind of buzzed and running out of time so I worked fast. I originally had her posing ON the car... but it looked too cheesy.
Well, I still use reference from time to time. I have some pose books, some action, some low angle stuff... and if I don't have a book of what I'm looking for, google helps. The recent Voltron piece I did I looked up some Escrima images to make sure I had him holding the sticks right.
Yeah... I didn't think too hard about what she was doing out in the boonies on such an overcast evening... The Ruger is totally by memory... I always fear Gun Fanatics will call me out on my BS guns. -_-;;
M.A.S.K.? The ACME nostalgia anvil just landed on my head. I haven't thought about this show in...forever. I even had the Boulder Hill base set. (Sigh) Ah, good times. And don't shortchange yourself, sir. Both she, and the car, are pretty awesome.
(Laughs) Wasn't exactly rolling in toys. Yeah, I had the playset, but the only M.A.S.K character I had was Brad. I didn't even have any of the VENOM characters. Still not sure how that worked out in my parent's heads...
And my older brother had all the best stuff that I couldn't go anywhere near. I got his hand me downs later and when that happened it was me pretty much using discarded paper towel tubes to build stuff for the Joe's and Boba Fett to fight each other in.
