Feb Draw a Day 16 by will-Ruzicka Feb Draw a Day 16 by will-Ruzicka
Okay, as a kid, I loved the Go Bots... though, they have not aged well at all. I mean... this show is BAD. I loved the show because my parents couldn't afford Transformers, but they COULD afford these cheap-o knock offs. I had several of these guys, and Little Foot was by far my absolute favorite. I was kind of put off when the cartoon made her a girl... but I got over it when I saw that she was a tough Tom Boy character.
The other character in there is one of the regular bad guys, Crasher. I did not have her toy, though. In fact the only main cast toys I had was Cop-Tor and Scooter... and I HATED Scooter in the show.

This is a wonderful fan art pic between the two bad ass girls of teh Gobots.  Looking back it does seem like Crasher and Small Foot had a bit of a rivalry.  This is an awesome depiction of that.

Did they really have a rivalry? It's been too long since I saw that show as a kid. I don't actually remember it. I just chose my favorite toy I owned (and own again) and the villain lady. XD

Well, more or less.  Not the kind of rivalry we see in today's cartoons.  But yeah, in the show Small Foot was always the young, inexperienced novice to the Guardian Gobots.  Opposite to Crasher, the hardcore, berserker.  Crasher loved to take on Small Foot at every chance she could.  There were two episodes where SmallFoot tried taking on Crasher on her own and was taken out every time.  I think that's why they made her a female character, so they could have a female protagonist versus the female antagonist.

Not to smack your fandom.  I admired Small Foot's courage.  But I am a hardcore fan to that sexy and crazy Crasher <3

I can't believe I haven't seen this until now... I'm always happy to see more Smallfoot art out there, as she was my favorite as well. I really love how dynamic the image is.

As for the cartoon itself... it's probably best viewed now with snarky friends. When one episode has the bad guys plotting to kill the power to Barstow, California for no apparent reason.... yeah.

more of a running story (if watched in the correct order) more involved relationship with the faction leaders. As you can tell from my user name i'd defend the gobots (but i am a tranformers fan first and foremost) and having watched all episode of both the transformers and gobots story telling was much the same and tes the animation was quite different but the transformers was littered with animation errors throughout its run but you can't say the same for the gobots cartoon.

A female bot-fight worth seeing. And I've seen a few "GoBots" episodes when the series aired on USA Network in the early 1990s.

I love the toys but the cartoon is really hard to watch now. I even tried watching the animated movie they did, Battle of the Rock Lords and holy crap is it tedious. They spend like 5 minutes on a scene of the Go-Bots putting a panel down on the planet. White hot sidewalk laying excitement! :XD:

I love the perspective and the lookes on their faces

I loved the toys as well. I still have Dive-Dive on my desk. I just wish I still had the rest of my collection.

There's another guy on here that does some amazing Go-Bots art as well. You should check him out. [link] There’s also a Go-Bots Club on Deviant Art too. [link]

As irritating as Scooter was he wasn't as bad as Scrappy Doo in my opinion. I think he was the worst sidekick on the planet as far as cartoons go. Though the original G1 cartoon version of Wheelie was a close second. Their voices were like friggin nails on a chalkboard. :iconscreamingplz:

what the hell??? He makes Go-Bots look cool. Amazing... gonna have to watch this guy.

It's strange, I didn't really hate scrappy doo the way everyone else does. But then again, I wasn't a really big fan of scooby doo at all. ^^;;

I know, right? He makes the Go-Bots look epic and cool as hell. I only wish he had done the cartoon, it's still be on the air. :XD:

The thing is he updated every once in a great while but when he does it's usually impressive. :D

I couldn't even get through the opening credits of him screeching out his shitty catch phrase, that's how much I hated Scrappy Doo. I loved the old Scooby Doo cartoons as a kid but then they kept teaming him with Scrappy and all that crap and it just wrecked the fun of it.

Still I dropped out of liking the Scooby stuff once GI Joe, Transformers, Inhumanoids, Real Ghostbusters and MASK took my attention away from it. :XD:

Had Small Foot. Never did have Crasher. But yeah, on the show Crasher was crazy evil. Loved her and always wanted her to kick the crap out of Turbo. Small Foot, like you said, gave off this tomboy vibe. I always kind of saw her as the farm girl with a cowboy hat. The voice really sold that character.

Yeah... and transformers were taken from like two or three different toy lines...
Gun Robo was the one where Megatron originally came from, I remember. And Soundwave was actually a hero character in his toy lineup.

Go-Bots had their own Japanese produced cartoon as well. I think Fitor was the main character... but it wasn't anything special, I don't think.

You can't go wrong with Robots punching each other in the face! :lmao: wow last time I saw women do this it was over XBox at Christmas. To be fair, the GoBots cartoon is cheesy and entertainingly so, the Transformers cartoon (80s), aged maybe TOO well, and now it's a little boring, G.I.Joe (80s) is so super cheesy I love watching them!

Hahaha. Well in a so bad it's good way. It's by no means "good". I think people look back at G.I.Joe and think "Wow they were awesome when I was a kid!" and the movies sure seem to be reflecting that, but I thought, they were funny, I always did, and I thought people understood this....but they didn't XD

go-bots toys came first, Go-bots show came second. So the concept wasn't ripped off.. their story, on the other hand, WAS.

Everythig else... yeah, the show really DID suck--Transforming rocks? REALLY? But still, while the show may not have been top-notch, this illustration is. All that could really be done better would be making the lines a little neater, but as it is, the whole thing has a wonderful dynamic feel (something the show always failed at).

I'm not really curious enough to research this, but I can imagine Tonka and Hasbro licensing their respective Japanese toys and preparing their TV shows at the same time or relatively at the same time. So which ever one came first is going to be debated forever, I'm sure. But it's really not all that important.

As for the lines, I have to do these things faster... my freelance work is suffering because of these daily drawings, especially when I clean them up too much.

FUCK ME. THE GO-BOTS.

Memory lane... D:
Every one seemed to hate Scooter in the show. I just hated how he always has his face out in vehicle mode. That sucked.

...
People alway say the Go-Bots are cheap knockoffs of the Transformers... But it's hard to pinpoint which came first. The various various Japanese toylines that became the Transformers here came first, and the ones that became the Gobots came a bit later. But Tonka actually released their Gobots here sooner than Hasbro with their transformers. (even though Hasbro actually started production of the US versions first.)

But I think the cartoon is what cemented the Transformers popularity. Challenge of the Gobots was just... too little, too late. :)
