Feb Draw a Day 17 by will-Ruzicka Feb Draw a Day 17 by will-Ruzicka
And as challenged, here's Jem. There's not much to comment on this one for me... I didn't watch this show as a kid. And though I was thinking of staging her hologram machine thing in the background, I decided I liked it blank better.

I've watched "Jem" before on USA in the '90s. It's a truly outrageous TV show. ;)

Indeed. They've been airing it again on the HUB. Maybe they'll do a remake of it.

apparently I was a typical boy and this show did not even register to me... people would talk about it in college and I had no idea what it was until I looked it up. 9_9;;;

Whoa? I didn't even even know that show aired in english speaking places.

I really loved it as a kid. But it seems like it was mostly forgotten. :(

According to Wikipedia it was in syndication in the mid 80's... It certainly seemed familiar when I came across it on Youtube. And the english theme song is A-MAZING. Unfortunately the only DVD of it in the US is some 4 episode disk. I would actually buy it if I could find the whole series.

The thing was mad popular with the kids here in Quebec in the early 80s... and quickly became forgotten for some reason. (probably because of the fact they never aired any reruns, I don't know. It was kinda scary at times)

But it lives on in my heart. :)

I don't imagine it pushed a lot of toys either, which is sadly, the main the reason for cartoons. But yes, it IS kind of scary at times, and sad. That's why I like it now... when Nono found a girlfriend robot, and then she sacrifices herself to save them... you can say she was 'just a robot', but it was still pretty deep for an 80's cartoon.

The 80s sure were home to terrible fashion trends... but I kinda miss the big hair.

I know. They leave the HUB on as the default channel on all the TV's, so popping into the break room I've seen the show playing.

Well, storyboard artist, to be precise. They have much better guys and girls doing the designs and color work. ^^

Quite true! Season two starts this weekend, I believe... finally the stuff I've been working on is airing. Most of my work is revision, but episode three of season two I got to do some actual boarding on. (I actually boarded a few scenes that got cut for time T_T )

I, uh...I watched this show as a kid. And, to makes matter worse, she was the first non-real woman to give me, well, funny feelings...

Don't worry, I won't judge you. I have male co-workers who watched this show, too. I'll mock them.

For me the first non-real woman was Cyndi Lauper. <j/k>

Thank you! I definitely wanted to try making a "cuter" version of her. Wasn't sure if that would be betraying the character or not.

Why hasn't Jem had a revival cartoon like so many other 80's franchises?
